Walsall Wood Primary school believes in forming strong partnerships with the local community.
We are currently part of the Primary partnership led by Shire Oak Academy. This is a successful partnership that supports children’s learning, showcases children’s talents and allows children from Shire Oak to share ther skills with the children in primary schools in the form of ambassadors.
We work closely with the businesses in our local area. Throughout the year the children visit Oak Park leisure centre to access a taught swimming lesson. These sessions are led by our sports coach and a qualified swimming teacher. During the development of the new leisure facility, our school council visited the building site and toured the project with the site manager. The builders have also led safety assemblies in school.
Our local Co-op and Tesco often generously donate goods to school for Harvest assemblies or school events such as the summer fayre and Health and Wellbeing fortnight. One of school governors is the manager of our local Co-op. She has organised a range of activities for our children including visiting the store to make Harvest hampers to donate to local charities. Tesco invited children to sessions called, 'From farm to fork' as part of our healthy eating studies. Amongst the exciting activities planned for us was the opportunity to make bread in the bakery.
