Walsall Wood School is a training school for the Every Child a Reader (ECaR) programmes,including the trademarked Reading Recovery programme.
Every Child a Reader intervention programmes support children to develop an active and independent approach to reading and writing.These courses have a proven track record and help staff to develop observation skills and the ability to scaffold independent learning.
The following training is available for intervention teachers and teaching assistants:
Monday 30th October and 20th November (to be followed by a session on 12th February 2018) - Evidence Gathering for Reading at KS1 1:00-3:30pm (Workshops for KS1 teachers/English Leaders to review and develop appropriate sources of evidence for reading at KS1, including running record training. Input from a KS1 moderator for these sessions. - £120 for 3 x half day sessions
Monday 6th November and 13th November - Boosting Reading @ Primary 9:30am-3:00pm (two day course for TAs in KS1 and KS2 to deliver this intervention programme to support the development of independent reading strategies and comprehension skills) - £200 for the two day course including resources
Monday 27th November and 4th December - Talking Partners @ Primary 9:30am-3:00pm (two day course for TAs in EYFS/KS1/KS2 to deliver this programme to develop the skills of effective listening and confident talking. This course will be delivered by a visiting accredited trainer) - £250 for the two day course including resources
