Walsall Wood School is a training school for the Every Child a Reader (ECaR) programmes,including the trademarked Reading Recovery programme.
Every Child a Reader intervention programmes support children to develop an active and independent approach to reading and writing.These courses have a proven track record and help staff to develop observation skills and the ability to scaffold independent learning.
The following training is available for intervention teachers and teaching assistants:
Friday 14th October - Switch On Reading 9:30am-3:00pm (Day 1 of the Switch On intervention training programme developed in Nottinghamshire to support reading and writing skills in KS2 and KS3 - 2 day course for a TAs, Intervention Teachers and SENCos) - £180 (to include resource file and website access)
Monday 10th October and Monday 21st November - Developing Independent Readers 1:00pm-3:00pm (2 half-day workshops for NQTs, Recently Qualified Teachers and TAs with a gap task) - £150
Monday 17th October and Monday 14th November - Inference Training Workshops 1:00pm-3:00pm (2 half-day workshops based on aspects of the Leicestershire programme including: Understanding the Barriers to Comprehension and Classroom Techniques to Develop Inferential Understanding for TAs, NQTs, SENCos, Literacy Leads, Class teachers) - £150 (plus £75 per school for resource file)
Monday 7th November - Switch On Writing 9:30am-3:00pm (Day 2 of the Switch On intervention training programme to support reading and writing skills in KS2 and KS3 - 2 day course for a TAs, Intervention Teachers and SENCos) - £150
Monday 28th November - Switch On Network 1 1:00pm-3:00pm (one of 3 opportunities to revisit the principles of the Switch On programme and develop understanding for trained Switch On staff) - £150 (for all 3 sessions across the year)
