Sporting Achievements

Throughout the year Walsall Wood pupils attend a wide range of sporting events organised by local sporting bodies such as Ormiston Academy and Streetly Academy.

The school enters as many events as possible, such as Cricket, Football, Athletics, Swimming, Gymnastics, Rounders and many more. This has been made possible by the purchase of a school minibus, funded by our Sports premium grant.

We believe all children should be given the chance to represent the school, work as a team and achieve recognition for their hard work and effort which is why we often have an A and B team when we compete.

Because we recognise the importance of healthy competition and nurturing talent for the future of British sport, those pupils with particular talents are selected to join the A team. They are invited to special training sessions with our dedicated sports coach and, where possible, they are signposted to sporting clubs within the local area.

Our close links with Walsall Football club has allowed our Year 6 pupils to act as ball boys and girls at home matches and has also seen Neil Etheridge, (former Goal keeper) officially open our multi-sports arena.
