So many of our children attended this year’s Children’s University Graduation to celebrate achieving their Silver and Gold Awards. The event took place at Wolverhampton University’s Walsall Campus and was a truly special occasion.
It was a fabulous event, giving the children the chance to experience what it’s really like to graduate — complete with caps, gowns, and plenty of smiles!
We are incredibly proud of all our children for their hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm. Congratulations to everyone who graduated this year!

Loaded jacket potatoes with a variety of delicious toppings
Dips and tortilla chips
For dessert, we marked National Chocolate Chip Day with chocolate chip cupcakes, served with squash or water.
The children had a fantastic time enjoying their tasty lunch together — thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success!
As part of our ongoing work to learn about and commemorate important historical events, we held a special celebration to mark the anniversary of VE Day. The day was filled with joy, reflection, and community spirit as we remembered the end of World War II in Europe and the importance of peace.
We enjoyed a delicious fish and chip lunch outside, followed by a wonderful afternoon of activities in the sunshine. Everyone took part enthusiastically, learning about the significance of the day while celebrating together.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our VE Day celebration such a memorable and meaningful occasion!

On the 10th March, Walsall Wood were personally invited to the Town Hall by the Mayor to take part in this year’s Commonwealth Day. Our School Council represented all of our pupils at the event showcasing the work created by each class to various VIP guests. Additionally, our School Mayor and Deputy Mayor joined selected Castlefort School children to raise the Commonwealth Flag and read the Commonwealth affirmation at the opening of the event.
On Thursday 6th March, we celebrated World Book Day. The theme this year was ‘Read your Way’ so the children had a fantastic time dressing up as their favourite book character or wearing their comfiest clothes for reading in. Throughout the day, the children took part in some wonderful reading activities. Take a look at our wonderful costumes and comfy reading wear!
On Tuesday 11th February our school joined schools across the globe to celebrate Safer Internet Day 2025.
The theme this Year was: ‘Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online‘. The children thought about the issue of scams online. This included educating them on how to protect themselves and others, as well as what support is available to them.
Safer Internet Day is a campaign to promote the safe and responsible use of technology, which calls on young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers and more, to join together in helping to create a better internet.
Using the internet safely and positively is a key message that we promote at Walsall Wood School and celebrating Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity for us to re-emphasise the online safety messages we deliver throughout the year.
Our Digital Leaders have worked with staff across the school to deliver an assembly, and an afternoon of activities and lessons that help to educate our pupils about online safety.
On Thursday 28th November, our school choir were invited to perform with other schools at the Walsall Arena.
It was a pleasure and a privilege to see our children perform so well and set an excellent example at this event. I was filled with pride watching them perform.
Thank you to everyone who dressed in their Pudsey merchandise to celebrate Children in Need Day on 15th November. Together we raised a wonderful amount for the charity!
Anti-bullying week - Monday 11th to Friday 15th November – began with our annual event, Odd Socks Day.
On this day we donate essential funds to the Anti-bullying alliance so that they can continue the great work they do throughout schools.
Our children see this day as a chance to express themselves, uniquely and individually. Wearing colourful odd socks, we are celebrating that difference is something to be proud of!
